Bald-head skittle bunt, I ain’t got no hair in the front! This was my reality a little over a month ago. I found myself thinking I would need to figure out ways to style my hair to hide my bald edges from here on out. I gained a beautiful baby but loss a beautiful set of edges. Lol. Too much? Ok. Well, if you’ve experienced hair loss or postpartum shedding specifically then you know what I mean.
Discovery of postpartum shedding
Around about 4 months postpartum I noticed what appeared to be just weaker areas with breakage around the front perimeter of my head. I didn’t think much of it because I had my hair braided at the time. However, once I started taking down my hair and noticed I was actually taking my hair out in clumps (primarily at the edges)—needless to say, I was mortified. For all the pictures of my hair before I’ve included a link to the original post here.
Immediately after I noticed my bald edges I whipped up a concoction to mitigate this problem. I hydrated my edges with glycerin/vitamin e water, moisturized with mango butter, and sealed it all in with a homemade oil mixture of rosemary oil and castor oil. I followed this routine once every 2-3 days.
I’d recommend doing this twice daily for better results but since I’ve had the baby I’ve not been as involved with my hair. I moisturize and seal it then place it into a style to leave it for 3-5 days at a time.
Here are my one month results!
My edges are still thin/see through but they are there no less. I am so pleased with my progress I had to show it off!
