  • Postpartum shedding…two month update

    November 11, 2019 by

I could feel the wind on my scalp! But how!?? My hair has always been super thick and my signature style is plaits. But around 4 months postpartum my hair began to fall out in clumps. Visibly my mane still looked full and healthy. With the exception of my front perimeter. In other words—my edges! I took every measure I knew how to save what remained and regrow what had fallen out. So, stick around and I’ll tell you what I did and give you my two month update on my postpartum shedding. Previous month recaps Before shedding My hair was braided all throughout my pregnancy. I barely manipulated my hair at all. I kept it in plaits, washed it, moisturized it and oiled it. It grew like wild weeds but I just left it alone. Here’s a picture I took the day after I delivered. 4 months PP So, fast forward 4 months. Like I mentioned before I discovered shedding and bald spots around 4 months postpartum. I went to refresh my braids and entire braids came out from the perimeter of my head (I’ll include some pictures.)I couldn’t understand what was going on. So, I reached out to Dr. Google and was diagnosed with postpartum shedding—per my research of course. 6 months PP I knew I had to do something and fast to avoid going completely bald. So, I created a concoction of oils and butters. Recipe here. I started using this mixture at least once per week with a castor oil rosemary oil mixture I made. My results were steady and I was pleased with the progress I had gotten in such a short period of time. 5 months PP But Nothing could’ve prepared me for any full comeback 2 months after started to use my concoction. Here are my results: This stuff is bomb!! The recipe is here if you want to try it out. Here’s a list of the products I used if you’d like to make the recipe for yourself. Product list Reaction So, while I’m through the moon about my results this may be last post (directly) on my progress. I will most likely post again about my hair but not directly about my shedding specifically. If you noticed that this post is a little late it’s because I’ve been super busy (buying a house! Yay!!!) So, this post is a week late but the pictures are accurate at least. If you decide to try this recipe let me know in the comments. Let me know what results you were able to achieve. Until next time, stay lit! Advertisements
